The Lookout Observatory was formally opened on June 11th 2011.

It’s opening marked the fulfillment of Carter’s longest held childhood dream – to have his own observatory. Located on 60 acres of open land in Modoc County, it resides on some of the most remote land in California with the darkest skies. It is approximately a six hour drive north of the San Francisco Bay Area and is a wonderful haven from the rush of modern life.
